Things Change...

After many years of dedicated service, John Skoyles and Stanley Moss will no longer serve on the Board of Trustees. John, a Writing Fellow in 1975, served as FAWC Executive Director in the early 1990's, and was instrumental in developing the Summer Workshop Program. Stanley, the force behind Sheep Meadow Press, worked tirelessly on the Board for many years. We thank them both for their loyal support of FAWC.

The Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome two new members, Former Writing Fellow Michael Cunningham, and Boston Phoenix publisher Stephen Mindich. Michael, who won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, has spent many years serving on the Writing Committee, as well as teaching in the Summer Workshop Program. Stephen, along with his wife, Hon. Maria Lopez, has hosted FAWC's Boston Benefit for the last few years. Stephen has a long history of supporting arts organizations.

The Writing Committee welcomes fiction writers Susan Choi, Patricia Powell, and Jaimy Gordon. The Visual Arts Committee welcomes artists David Humphrey. A major change to the Work Center staff was the addition of Melanie Braverman, a well-established Provincetown writer and visual artist. Melanie first joined the Work Center as Summer Program Coordinator; however, after overseeing that program's most successful summer, her considerable talents and unending good cheer led to increased responsibilities, assisting in the administration of all FAWC programs.

The Work Center was sad to say good-bye to Josh Weiner as Writing Coordinator. Along with his family, Josh moved to Chicago to assume a teaching position at Northwestern University. Former Writing Fellow Heather McGowan, an accomplished fiction writer, joined the staff as Writing Coordinator. Other staff changes include the departure of Office Manager Etta Baurhenn, and the addition of Administrative Assistants Dorothy Antczak and Mark Cronin.
