FAWC is pleased to be included in the current Catalogue for Philanthropy, the creative idea of the Ellis L. Phillips Foundation of Boston. The publication is designed to promote philanthropy by changing the culture of philanthropy ­ what people know and think about it and how accessible it is to the public.

George McCully, Trustee of the Phillips Foundation, acknowledges that all of the participants in this year's Catalogue were included for their "excellent accomplishments" which provide "evident representation of the best that Massachusetts philanthropy offers to prospective donors and volunteers. Our subject is philanthropy, not the charities; they are our evidence. We hope to attract support to the smaller charities of this world that most folks never hear about -- the 92% that canšt afford to get their messages out, that are deserving of significantly greater support and only rarely get it."

NGLTF Award

On Sunday, August 26, 2001, Hunter O'Hanian and Melanie Braverman accepted a 2001 Leadership Award from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force honoring the Fine Arts Work Center "For nurturing an environment where creativity can flourish."

Also honored from Provincetown were author Michael Cunningham and James Hormel, former US Ambassador to Luxembourg.
