Equipping Artists

The lack of functioning equipment is a frustrating and stifling impediment to the creative process. The Fine Arts Work Center strives to provide a quality place to work for the Fellows and for the students participating in the Summer Workshop Program, but there is still a deficiency in the equipment we are able to offer. For this reason, we would like your help to improve the equipment for artists and writers at the Work Center.

It is our goal to create a full-time writing studio, outfitted with ten computers and a quality laser printer. In addition, we hope to provide twenty easels and taborets for Visual Arts Fellows and painting and drawing students. The total cost of this equipment is $18,000. Last year, friends and supporters generously contributed over $20,000 to the exterior refurbishment of the Days' Lumberyard Building. In 2001, many other friends contributed to the renovation of the Stanley Kunitz Common Room's floors, windows and chairs.

We are presently seeking 180 persons to contribute $100 each to our 2002 Equipment Fund. Those gifts will be used exclusively to cover the costs associated with the acquisition of new equipment. A plaque recognizing the donors will be placed in the Stanley Kunitz Common Room upon completion of the campaign. Contact the Work Center office for more details.
