The FAWC Staff

The Work Center relies on a talented and dedicated staff, the majority of which are artists and writers themselves. Amy O’Hara, Office Manager and accomplished chef, keeps things organized and running smoothly in the FAWC offices. Dorothy Antczak now serves as Education Coordinator; she supervises the Summer and Fall Workshop Programs as well as the Collaborative Residency and Returning Residency Programs. We are happy to welcome Grace Ryder-O’Malley to the year-round staff. Grace was recently hired as Program Coordinator, and will assist with the Summer and Fall Workshops and Residency Programs. Former Writing Fellow Justin Tussing takes time from summer fishing to continue as Writing Coordinator of the Winter Fellowship Program. Maryalice Johnston serves as Visual Arts Coordinator for the Winter Fellowship Program and also works as Gallery Manager in the summer months, tending to the details of a fast-paced schedule of summer exhibitions in the Hudson D. Walker Gallery.

Buildings and Grounds Manager Dan Towler maintains the FAWC properties and keeps everything working with the help of his assistant, former Fellow Carlos Ferguson. Carol Collins, bookkeeper extraordinaire, balances the books and dreams of Africa, where she volunteered her accounting skills for the Jane Goodall Institute. Dawn Zimiles, our website and graphic designer, works to keep the FAWC website dynamic and informative. Jill-of-all-trades, Meg Harker lends her skills to several of FAWC’s operations, most notably to the Summer Program as visual arts assistant.

Other Summer Program staff include Sara London, who has worked with the Summer Program since its inception; the ever-cheerful Abby Horowitz, who pitched in to do whatever was needed; and Andrea and Rodrick Lewis, the amazing husband-and-wife cleaning team. Our Summer Interns Sarah Gillis, Rachel Kahn, Bill Carty, Allegra Mira, Jeff Jones and Lynn Holmgren provided immeasurable help, as did volunteers Colene Pindera and Harriet Miller. Contact Dorothy Antczak or Grace Ryder-O’Malley if you are interested in volunteer or internship opportunities. We are presently looking for interns for Summer 2004.
