NGLTF Provides Scholarships at FAWC

At a summer party in August 2004, FAWC was the recipient of a Community Service Award from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Founded in 1973, the NGLTF was the first national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights and advocacy organization and remains the movement's leading voice for freedom, justice, and equality. FAWC received the award for its depth of offerings in the field of arts and literature in Provincetown, adding significantly to the town’s cultural welfare. The funds will be used for two scholarships to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in FAWC’s Summer 2005 Workshop Program.

The NGLTF joins other fine organizations in contributing scholarship opportunities to the Summer Workshop Program. The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation provides twenty scholarships to educators from the state of New Jersey, and the Bertha H. and Hudson D. Walker Foundation funds eighteen scholarships to students of racial or ethnic minorities. In memory of poet Agha Shahid Ali, the Work Center offers one full-tuition scholarship to a poet. There are also scholarships available for those in financial need who live year-round on the Lower Cape. If you would like to help fund FAWC scholarships or apply, please contact Executive Director Hunter O’Hanian or Education Coordinator Dorothy Antczak.
