The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown has awarded ten Fellowships to emerging poets and fiction writers and ten Fellowships to emerging visual artists. Each Fellow receives a seven-month stay at the Work Center, from October 1, 2007, to April 30, 2008, and a monthly stipend. The next application deadline is December 1, 2007 for writers, and February 1, 2008 for artists. THE FIRST-YEAR FICTION FELLOWSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO:
Michael Hinken of Washington, Illinois The jurors were: Jaimy Gordon, Marcie Hershman, Victor LaValle, Paul Lisicky, Salvatore Scibona, Roger Skillings, Chris Stuck, and Kellie Wells. THE SECOND-YEAR POETRY FELLOWSHIP WAS AWARDED TO: Fiona McFarlane of Sydney, Australia. The judge was Jhumpa Lahiri. THE FIRST-YEAR POETRY FELLOWSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO:
Pilar Gómez-Ibáñez of Madison, Wisconsin The jurors were: Keith Althaus, L.S. Asekoff, Maggie Dietz, Patrick Ryan Frank, Major Jackson, Kathryn Maris, Gail Mazur, and Martha Rhodes. THE SECOND-YEAR POETRY FELLOWSHIP WAS AWARDED TO: Nancy Kathleen Pearson of Washington, D.C. The judge was Jane Miller. THE FIRST-YEAR VISUAL ARTS FELLOWSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO: Christy George, Meghan Gordon, Robert Gutierrez, Janelle Iglesia, Roberta Flemming Jefferies, Kambui Olujimi, Minako Shirakura and Xin Song THE SECOND YEAR VISUAL ARTS FELLOWSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO: Nathalie Jacqueline Miebach and Steve McClure The Final Jury was composed of the following individuals: Simone Leigh, Clarence Morgan and Gregory Sholette
