Fall 2000 Working with an exemplary administrative team, scores of dedicated volunteers and a supportive local community, the Board of Trustees is pleased to report that the Fine Arts Work Center has never been better. The Winter Fellowship Program, our renowned seven-month residency for emerging artists and writers in the critical early stages of their careers, remains unparalleled. Former Fellows continue to win prestigious prizes and awards -- from the Pulitzer to the Prix de Rome. Our much heralded Summer Workshop Program, last year hosting more than 650 participants, continues to be one of the fastest growing programs of its type in the country. This program was augmented by our most recent initiative, Fall Weekend Workshops, as well as strengthened Visiting Artist/Writer and Returning Residency Programs. Other activities such as gallery exhibitions, readings, slide lectures and special events, featuring some of the best known, thoughtful and provocative names in the fields of arts and letters remain immensely popular. As we continue to build the Work Center -- now recognized as a national leader in providing opportunities to artists and writers -- we welcome your support. Last year, we embarked upon a $2 million Capital Campaign and happily report that our success has been dramatic: We've seen the tangible results of the hard work and generosity of our many friends, as our endowment has grown, mortgage reduced and buildings improved. Your belief in us is our only guarantee for our continuation. Many thanks for your past support and, in advance, your future assistance.
