Louise Bourgeois, a longtime trustee, benefactor and friend of the Fine Arts Work Center, died in Manhattan on May 31, 2010, at the age of 98. Louise joined the FAWC Board many years ago at the invitation of then-President Berta Walker. She was an ardent supporter of the Work Center in many ways, including very generous annual gifts to our Fellowship Program, and visits with our Visual Arts Fellows who made the pilgrimage to her New York studio to be in her presence and show her their work. We had a wonderful exhibit of her work in our Hudson D. Walker Gallery in 2002. We were privileged to know her and have her know us. We extend our sympathies to her family and studio colleagues.
