The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown has awarded ten Fellowships to emerging poets and fiction writers and ten Fellowships to emerging visual artists. Each Fellow receives a seven-month stay at the Work Center, from October 1, 2008, to April 30, 2009, and a monthly stipend. The next application deadline is December 1, 2008 for writers, and February 1, 2009 for artists. THE FIRST-YEAR FICTION FELLOWSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO:
Charles Conley of North Merrick, New York The jurors were: Dean Albarelli, Jaimy Gordon, Nam Le, Fiona McFarlane, Salvatore Scibona, Roger Skillings, Melanie Sumner, and A.J. Verdelle. THE SECOND-YEAR POETRY FELLOWSHIP WAS AWARDED TO: Nadia Kalman of Brooklyn, New York The judge was Kathryn Davis. THE FIRST-YEAR POETRY FELLOWSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO:
Erica Ehrenberg of New York City The jurors were: Keith Althaus, Major Jackson, Maurice Manning, Gail Mazur, Nancy K. Pearson, David Rivard, Josh Weiner, and Suzanne Wise. THE SECOND-YEAR POETRY FELLOWSHIP WAS AWARDED TO: Deborah Bernhardt of Baraboo, Wisconsin The judge was Brenda Hillman. THE FIRST-YEAR VISUAL ARTS FELLOWSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO: Taylor Baldwin, Julia Brown, Adam Davies, Lisa Iglesias, Lilly McElroy, Jason Mones, Leslie Murray and Micha Patiniott THE SECOND YEAR VISUAL ARTS FELLOWSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO: Meghan Gordon and Kambui Olujimi The Final Jury was composed of the following individuals: Sarah Sze, Gareth James and Sam Messer.
